Please keep in mind 1000kbs and higher videos play at a very high data rate and are very CPU intensive. 1000kbs videos may not play smoothly on older or slower computers. If the video stutters during playback your computer is not fast enough to play them.

This is not a rental. All downloadable videos will have unlimited plays. We have intended the downloadable videos to be playable indefinitely however due to current uncertainties and/or deficiencies in the Microsoft license system we do not guarantee that the videos will play indefinitely. There are several factors that will determine how long the videos will be playable.

Please note:
While you can save your files to CD or DVD they will only play on the machine you download too.

Why tokens?: Why the licenses? Why DRM? Why so complicated? High quality videos means huge file sizes and that results in big bandwidth expenses. The token system is simply the only way we can maintain bandwidth costs and keep it feasible to even offer the long high quality videos as a download as well as to protect our files from unauthorized use. The upside to this is it allows you only pay for only as much bandwidth as you use.
How does this work?:

Every downloadable video is worth a certain number of tokens (generally each video in the Full Screen Theatre is worth 10 tokens). To download a video simply click on the link to the video you want. Depending on your operating system you may get a series of small pop up windows with warnings, continue, cancel buttons, etc., and you may have a choice of where you will download to on your hard drive. Once the download is complete  double click on the file on your hard drive to open it. The first time you open the video your Windows Media player will request your username and password and then confirm how many tokens will be used on the video as well as give a running balance of your token account. The designated number of tokens will be debited from your account, a license to play the video is sent to your computer and the video begins playing automatically. The first time you view our full screen videos your Windows Media Player may prompt you to update digital rights management (DRM) if you have never played DRM content before. Click OK. This is a quick process (5-10 seconds) that won't have to be repeated again. You will have unlimited plays indefinitely unless you erase your licenses (see "license duration" below).

Important!

All downloadable videos will have unlimited plays. We have intended the downloadable videos to be playable indefinitely however due to current deficiencies in the Microsoft Windows Media license system we do not guarantee that the videos will play indefinitely. More accurately in most circumstances the video licenses will remain active until you make changes to your operating system. Upgrading your operating system or initializing your hard drive will erase the video licenses rendering the videos unplayable unless you use more tokens to reactivate them (there are solutions to this below). Of course nobody likes this inconvenience but unfortunately we have no control over Microsoft products.
If your downloaded videos used to play but are now asking you to enter your Username and Password and use more tokens you have most likely erased your licenses from your computer. There are a couple of solutions to the lost / erased licenses issue:

Back-up your licenses regularly. A good idea is to change where you back them up so they are in the same folder as your videos. This makes them much easier to find so you can try and restore them. In Windows Media Player go to Tools>License Management>Choose and place them in the same folder your videos are stored.
You can find extensive additional FAQs on Windows Media DRM licenses here and further info on transferring your digital video collection to Windows XP here. Our experience with this back up system is that it is wholly un-user friendly and practically useless.

The usual procedure to extend the life of the videos after licenses have been erased is to go through them one by one using tokens to reacquire licenses (you don't need to download the videos again). Yes you would be using tokens on videos you've already paid for but we can easily credit back tokens. Once you've reacquired the licenses we will look up your account in the DRM webmaster's admin and verify which videos you have acquired twice and credit back those tokens. If you decide to do this just e-mail us after you're done and we will credit back these tokens. Please include your username when requesting a credit. email us at: customerservice@awefilms.com

Videos won't play:

You must be connected to the internet and cookies must be enabled in order for the license acquisition to work. On most browsers the cookie settings can be found in the internet options window (under the tools menu). Select the privacy tab and adjust the cookies setting accordingly. Also see License duration above.

Can't Download:

If the links to the videos don't work or the initial small pop up does not respond it is most likely that the java script is not enabled on your browser. On most browsers the java script settings can be found in the internet options window (under the tools menu). Select the security tab and click on custom level. Look for all items with the word java or script and ensure all are enabled.
Also check to see your firewall is allowing Windows Media Player access to the internet.

Macintosh:

Currently the Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology employed by the token system does not support Macintosh operating system OS X.

CD / DVD:

The downloadable videos may be written to CD or DVD. This would be for storage purposes only. It does not mean you can view the videos on a DVD player connected to your TV. You may want to copy license back-ups as well.

Quality:

Picture quality is our absolute highest priority so please don't hesitate to e-mail us your thoughts on the quality of the full screen clips!

Poor Playback: Videos may also play poorly if your computer is trying to do multiple tasks at one time. Large video files may require your computer's undivided attention in order to play smoothly.
